Yes, it’s Time to Think About the 2026 Election!
I protest and gripe like everyone else, but if we don’t vote, we risk ceding our political power to someone else – maybe to people or forces we really don’t support. So, I work every year to increase voter turnout, and also write comprehensive Election Guides in hopes that voters will make well-informed decisions!
In 2026, Boulder-area voters will see vital state and federal candidate races, state and local ballot measures, races for Boulder City Council and Mayor of Boulder, a County Commissioner race, contests for CU Regent and Board of Education, a race for RTD Board, and judge retention questions. Every state constitutional office is open and contested this year – Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer.
As you can see, it will be an enormous ballot with potentially huge stakes. Like I’ve done for decades, I will publish my analysis of candidates and issues for 2026 as we get a bit closer to the election. I hope you’ll tune in, but whether you use my Election Guide or not, I seriously hope you’ll participate in the election cycle and vote!

Second Book Edited!
I just finished editing A Hike in the Mountains, a delightful collection of short stories, for the author Michael Palmer. It’s the second full-length book I have edited, and this one was 380 pages long (whew)! In 2025, my guide included write-ups on every candidate running for Boulder City Council, ballot measures in the City of Boulder and Boulder County. State of Colorado measures, and questionnaire responses from Boulder Valley School District School Board candidates.
I do this work in hopes that voters will make quality, well-researched decisions when we all get our ballots. As they say, elections have consequences, but they can also bring benefits if we do it right.
