Boulder County Candidates, 2026

The most prominent thing that’s red about Boulder County is how it’s shaded on this map. There are Republicans in the county, of course, but not enough to carry majorities in most races. 

Below, readers will find a list of candidates for Boulder County elected office in 2026. Astute observers might notice that they’re all Democratic Party candidates running unopposed. That’s partially because Boulder County is a very “blue” county, and it’s tough for Republicans or members of other parties to win here. I’m not trying to excuse anything by saying this, but running for office can be a very stressful and time-consuming activity, so my guess is that a lot of people who aren’t Democrats don’t want to devote the time or money if they don’t think they have a chance of winning.

Voters do have the option of not marking the little bubble on their ballots if they don’t want to vote for any of the Democrats running in 2026. However, in my opinion there’s no reason to avoid voting for any of the people listed below.
